The Springfield Cardinals are set to make their national television debut on July 18, as part of the MLB Pipeline Prospect Showcase series. The game will be broadcast on the MLB Network, featuring top catching prospect Rainiel Rodriguez behind the plate for the matchup against the Amarillo Sod Poodles.
Christmas in July Event
The broadcast coincides with the annual Christmas in July event at Route 66 Stadium, where 2,000 lucky fans will receive a Santa Claus Bobblebody, and Santa will be available for pictures. The Cardinals will wear special “Cashew Chicken Christmas” jerseys, which will be available for auction to benefit the Greater Ozarks Chapter of Knights of Columbus.
To encourage attendance, the Cardinals are offering a deal for fans who purchase tickets through a specific link, which includes a voucher for an additional lower bowl ticket for a game during the July 28-Aug. 2 homestand against Wichita.
“To show off the City of Springfield to a national audience is a fantastic opportunity,” said Springfield Cardinals General Manager Dan Reiter in a press release. Gates open at 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, with the broadcast beginning at 6:30 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
