A water main break occurred in Somerville, Massachusetts, on Friday morning, causing a geyser of water to shoot several feet into the air. The incident happened on Munroe Street, where the Somerville Police and Fire departments responded to the scene.
People were advised to avoid the area. The water has since been shut off, and a gaping hole is visible in the road. The break caused damage, including cracked windshields from rocks flung into the air and at least one flooded basement.
A nearby business owner reported that the water rushed into the Liquor Zone and flooded the basement, where bottles of liquor were seen floating.
