Six Flags Fiesta Texas Introduces Werewolf Gorge Roller Coaster

Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio is set to make waves with the introduction of Werewolf Gorge, a groundbreaking family launch roller coaster. Announced on May 30, 2026, this new attraction is poised to become the world’s longest family launch coaster, marking a significant milestone for the park as it celebrates its 35th anniversary season in 2027.

Innovative Family Thrills

Werewolf Gorge combines a unique mix of ride elements, including four launches and a mid-course rollback, all within a 4,120-foot track. The coaster promises an exhilarating two-minute, 36-second adventure, reaching speeds up to 45 mph and featuring 32 floater airtime moments. This ride is designed to offer a dynamic experience that appeals to families, with a height requirement of just 39 inches, making it accessible to a wide range of riders.

Manufactured by Vekoma, the coaster is a testament to Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ commitment to providing innovative and immersive experiences for families. Park manager Robert Bustle highlights the ride’s combination of storytelling and thrilling elements, which sets it apart as a defining addition to the park’s lineup.

A Story-Driven Adventure

Set in a mysterious Texas quarry, Werewolf Gorge immerses guests in a narrative inspired by the park’s real quarry setting. Riders embark on a guided tour aboard a mining train, only to find themselves on a high-speed escape through a landscape haunted by a centuries-old werewolf curse. The ride features near-miss moments with towering werewolf figures and a climactic finale through a crumbling quarry structure.

The attraction extends beyond the ride itself, with themed queue spaces such as the Museum of Cryptids and Werewolf Museum, offering guests a fully realized environment from start to finish.

Expanding Family Attractions

Werewolf Gorge is part of Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ strategic investment in family-friendly attractions. The ride introduces a new story world centered around Jasper Bunyan, an eccentric entrepreneur who transformed a forgotten quarry into a roadside attraction filled with cryptid lore and interactive exhibits.

The park has been teasing the arrival of Werewolf Gorge since 2025 with cryptic full moon activations. The official reveal took place under a rare blue full moon, aligning with the ride’s supernatural theme, and featured a high-energy production inspired by the ride’s storyline.

Looking Ahead

Set to debut in 2027, Werewolf Gorge will be a highlight of Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ 35th anniversary celebrations. Visitors can experience the new attraction with a Gold Season Pass or Membership, which also provides access to other parks in the region, including Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and Six Flags Over Texas.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas, opened in 1992, continues to be a premier destination for thrill-seekers and families alike, offering a wide variety of rides, shows, and seasonal events against the stunning backdrop of an old limestone quarry.
