The Lyric Theatre is bringing the beloved ‘Sister Act’ characters to life with its upcoming shows at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City. The show, based on the 1990s hit comedy, will start its run on July 7th and feature the music of Alan Menken, composer of Disney classics such as Aladdin and Hercules.
Stars Share Their Excitement
Two of the show’s stars, Christina Love and Ellen Pierce, recently spoke with KOCO 5 about the production. They shared their favorite moments from the show and what audiences can expect. ‘People can expect to see the story that they love from the movie on stage with the music of Alan Menken,’ said Love. ‘It’s packed with music from the 70s, and it’s so much fun.’
Pierce, who plays Sister Mary Clarence, said she is excited to play the role made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the movie. ‘I loved watching Whoopi Goldberg in the movies growing up,’ she said. ‘She is just an icon, and I feel so honored to play this role.’
The show’s themes of togetherness, sisterhood, and belonging are also important to the cast. ‘I want people to walk away with a message of togetherness and sisterhood,’ said Love. ‘It’s about being together and supporting one another, and I think that’s what we need now more than ever.’
Tickets for the show are still on sale and can be purchased through the Civic Center’s website.
