The Sioux Falls mayoral election will officially go to a recount after a two-vote difference in the June 23 race. Jamie Smith filed for the recount after the City Council canvassed the votes on June 26. Smith received 18,278 votes to Christine Erickson’s 18,280.
Election Results
The official canvas was originally scheduled to be the following Tuesday. With the election results so close, both parties chose to expedite the canvas so the recount could begin sooner.
