A Los Angeles judge ruled Monday that singer D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, must stand trial for the killing and dismemberment of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Authorities said Hernandez had threatened to expose their relationship and damage his career.
Charges and Proceedings
Judge Charlaine Olmedo decided that the evidence presented at a preliminary hearing provided probable cause for a trial on charges of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The judge emphasized that the probable cause standard for a preliminary hearing is much lower than the threshold at trial. D4vd will continue to be held without bail.
