A man suspected of domestic violence and elder abuse was fatally shot by police officers in Simi Valley after leading them on a brief pursuit that ended in a crash involving a motorcycle.
Police received a call about a domestic violence incident around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday on the 2500 block of Dusan Street, according to the Simi Valley Police Department. The caller told authorities that the culprit left the scene armed with a gun and threatened that he would shoot police if they were called.
Several hours later, at about 3:15 p.m., officers located the driver in a white pickup truck near Simi Valley Town Center, where they attempted to approach him. The driver refused to comply and took off, initiating a short chase that ended in a crash with a motorcycle on the same block where the domestic violence call was made.
Simi Valley police confirmed an officer-involved shooting occurred at the site, and bullet holes were seen on the windshield of the truck. The truck driver died at the scene. The police department said it would not be releasing the man’s name at this time.
No officers were hurt during the ordeal. The investigation is ongoing.
