The Shreveport chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction Inc. honored 12 women Saturday during its annual Status of Women Awards Brunch, celebrating their contributions and service to the community.
Community Leaders Recognized
The event recognized women from a variety of fields and backgrounds while also featuring presentations, special recognitions and scholarship awards. Organizers said the brunch serves as an opportunity to highlight positive achievements and the impact local women have on the Shreveport community.
Among this year’s honorees was KTBS 3 News anchor Brenda Teele, who received a 2026 Status of Women Award. Darlene Rossum, first vice president of the Shreveport chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction Inc., said the event focuses on recognizing women whose dedication often goes unnoticed.
“We live in a community whereby so much negative is exposed,” Rossum said. “This is an opportunity to showcase the positive and the awesome women that are part of our community. We look at how much time, talent and resources they have given back within the community and how much emphasis they place on compassion and service.”
Angela Seets, chairwoman of the Status of Women Awards Brunch, said the event’s theme, “Our Crowns, Our Stories,” reflects the organization’s mission of uplifting and empowering women.
“So many times we have those in the community who don’t understand, don’t even recognize that they have a crown and we fix each other’s crowns and we have stories to tell,” Seets said. “Today we will actually crown those honorees as well as tell their stories.”
