A large police response was reported at a hotel in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, after a shooting occurred overnight. The incident happened at the Sturbridge Plaza Hotel, located at 400 Haynes Street, where an SUV had crashed into the building.
Investigation Ongoing
Sturbridge police, along with Massachusetts State Police, responded to the scene around 12:55 a.m. Thursday. Investigators were seen looking inside the vehicle and walking around it with a flashlight. The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is involved in the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.
A woman who was staying in the hotel reported hearing shouting, gunshots, and more shouting. She estimated that she may have heard 12 shots fired. Yellow police tape was cordoning off a large area of the parking lot, and many law enforcement vehicles had left the scene by 7 a.m.
Police said on Facebook that there is no threat to the public at this time. Additional information is being gathered, and the public is asked to avoid speculation, allowing investigators the time necessary to conduct a thorough and complete investigation.
