Sheridan Man Arraigned for Assault

A 39-year-old Sheridan man, Derek Blackwolf, was arraigned Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court for the charge of aggravated assault and battery. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fight in the area of Fort Road and Dana Avenue on May 9, 2026.

Details of the Incident

Once on scene, law enforcement received information from eyewitnesses that a large male with long hair was beating, kicking, and stomping on the head of another male. The assault left the victim unresponsive and unconscious, and the injuries caused his brain to swell and were considered life-threatening.

Blackwolf was located at a residence on Midland Road shortly after the alleged assault. He was placed under arrest and booked into the Sheridan County Detention Center. At an arraignment hearing, Blackwolf pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated assault and battery.

District Court Judge Darcy Phillips scheduled a three-day jury trial to begin October 14th. A pretrial conference will take place September 10th at 10:30 a.m.
