Shawnee Mission Students Return To Class

Students across Johnson County, including those in the Shawnee Mission School District, have begun the new school year. Shawnee Mission students in grades 1-7 and 9 returned to class on Wednesday, Aug. 12, while grades 8 and 10-12 started on Thursday, Aug. 13. Pre-school and kindergarten students joined their peers on Friday.

New Facilities for Some Students

Pawnee Elementary, located at 9501 W. 91st St. in Overland Park, is one of five elementary schools in the district that have been rebuilt as part of a $264 million bond measure approved by voters in 2021. The new and improved Pawnee Elementary was unveiled in 2023.
