A stretch of northbound Sepulveda Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be closed next weekend as crews continue work on roadway improvements in the area.
Closure Details
The full directional closure will affect northbound Sepulveda Boulevard between Century Boulevard and 98th Street beginning at 1 a.m. Saturday, July 18, and continuing through 4:30 a.m. Sunday, July 19, according to Los Angeles World Airports.
Motorists traveling northbound on Sepulveda at Imperial Highway will be required to turn either east or west onto Imperial. Drivers headed to LAX terminals are being advised to use alternate routes via Century Boulevard.
Detour routes will be available, and access to airport terminals and local businesses will be maintained throughout the closure, officials said. Los Angeles Department of Transportation traffic officers and flaggers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with traffic flow.
The closure is needed while crews continue work on a future pedestrian bridge spanning Sepulveda Boulevard at Century Boulevard that is intended to improve pedestrian access and safety.
The work is part of a broader effort aimed at reducing congestion and traffic backups in and around LAX, officials said. Motorists were advised to allow extra travel time and remain alert when traveling near active construction zones.
