Senator Mitch McConnell was loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher after a medical emergency at his Washington, D.C. home, according to a neighbor and new video. The incident occurred on June 14, and McConnell’s team has not disclosed what prompted the hospitalization or details of his condition.
A neighbor reported seeing emergency responders, including two ambulances and a fire truck, outside McConnell’s home at around 8:30 a.m. The neighbor said they asked officers what was happening, and they responded that there had been a “medical emergency.” When the neighbor inquired if McConnell was having a medical emergency, officers said they would block the street for anybody.
Videos taken by the neighbor show emergency responders wheeling a person on a stretcher toward an ambulance. The person’s face is not visible in the videos, but the neighbor said they learned from another eyewitness that the person on the stretcher was McConnell. McConnell’s spokesperson declined to comment on the incident.
McConnell’s hospitalization has sparked significant speculation online about his condition. Some high-profile Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, have put out statements saying they have recently spoken with McConnell.
