Security Widefield Schools Get Safety Upgrades

Nearly a dozen schools in Widefield District 3 are seeing the benefits of a safety program funded by county commissioners in February 2024. The program, which allocated $11 million to improve safety at crossings near schools, was implemented after a spike in serious accidents where pedestrians are supposed to be safe.

New Safety Measures

District 3 began receiving some of the safety upgrades over the summer, with new crosswalks and other features designed to slow traffic down, reduce crossing distances, and make it easier for pedestrians and drivers to see each other.
