The Museum of Flight in Seattle is offering a unique opportunity for aviation enthusiasts of all ages to engage in a hands-on rocket-building workshop. Scheduled for Saturday, May 30, the event is designed to inspire participants with a passion for flight and aerospace.
Hands-On Learning Experience
Led by mechatronics engineer and pilot Xyla Foxlin, the workshop will guide attendees through the process of assembling and decorating their own Estes Alpha rocket kit. Foxlin, who has been fascinated by aviation since childhood, aims to share her love for aerospace with the community. “I wanted to go to space as a little kid…aviation was the path to aerospace,” she shared, reflecting on her journey.
The event will take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m., with check-in starting at 1 p.m. in the Skyline Room on the museum’s second floor. Tickets are priced at $15, making it an accessible event for families looking to explore the wonders of flight together.
Family-Friendly Event
The workshop is open to participants aged 10 and older, with the requirement that those aged 10 to 13 must be accompanied by an adult. This ensures a family-friendly environment where parents and children can learn and create together. Each participant will leave with a completed rocket, along with information on where to purchase an optional motor and suitable locations for launching their creation.
This event highlights the Museum of Flight’s commitment to fostering an interest in aviation and aerospace among the local community, providing a platform for both education and family bonding.
