Two groups, one led by Boston Celtics minority owner Aditya Mittal and former Celtics governor Wyc Grousbeck, and the other headed by San Francisco 49ers minor investor Vinod Khosla, have emerged as the leading candidates to buy the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, according to Front Office Sports.
Potential Sale Details
The report notes that if the Khosla family wins the bid, they would have to sell their minority stake in the 49ers. Vinod Khosla, who founded the venture-capital firm Khosla Ventures, has a net worth of approximately $14 billion. The sale of the Seahawks is expected to rake in between $8 billion and $10 billion.
Representatives for the Paul G. Allen Estate, which is selling the Seahawks, declined to comment on the sale process. The NFL and Latham & Watkins, the legal adviser to the Allen Estate, also declined to comment.
