Sci-Port Discovery Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, has received a $30,000 grant from Amazon Web Services to enhance its sensory accessibility offerings. The funds will support a KultureCity sensory inclusion project designed to assist neurodivergent children, adults, and families, including individuals with autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, and sensory processing needs.
Grant Initiatives
The grant will directly target four initiatives: building dedicated sensory rooms and spaces, distributing sensory bags and installing facility signage, providing comprehensive staff training and certification, and establishing sustained long-term community impact.
Dianne Clark, Sci-Port Discovery Center executive director, expressed gratitude to Amazon Web Services for their generosity and shared vision for the community. The center provides hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educational experiences in Shreveport.
