Santa Maria, California is now accepting nominations for three City Council seats. The seats are currently held by Gloria Soto, Maribel Aguilera, and Richard Batalla, who was appointed as the interim District 1 representative.
Election Details
To be nominated, one must be over 18, a resident and registered voter of the district they intend to represent. Candidates must visit the city clerk’s office, declare their intent to run, and obtain 20 to 30 registered voter signatures from their district.
After the nomination month is over, the applications will be processed, and all candidates who meet the qualifications will appear on the November ballots. Qualifying candidates will campaign for voter support from late August through October.
