Santa Fe’s first Whataburger to open Monday

The fast-food chain plans a Monday opening and will operate 24/7.

SANTA FE, N.M. — A long-awaited Whataburger is set to open its first Santa Fe location this coming Monday, arriving just as the city marks 4/20. The arrival of the chain adds a new late-night and breakfast option for residents and visitors in the area.

The restaurant will be located at 3570 Cerrillos Road, near the intersection with Zafarano Drive. Doors are expected to open in the late morning, with reports putting the start time around 10:30–11:00 a.m., so patrons should plan accordingly the first day.

Management anticipates the new location will create about 110 jobs, offering positions across front-of-house, kitchen, and managerial roles. The restaurant plans to operate around the clock, providing a 24/7 dining option for customers who need early-morning or late-night service.

City neighbors and regular commuters on Cerrillos Road can expect increased activity in the area as the restaurant settles in. Officials and local employees say the new store may bring more traffic during peak meal times, but it also means more employment opportunities and additional dining choices close to home.

As the first Whataburger in Santa Fe, this location represents the brand’s expansion into the city and is likely to draw both loyal fans and new customers curious to try the chain’s menu. Those planning to visit on opening day should arrive early if they want to avoid long lines.
