Santa Barbara Hosts Art Auction to Support Families Affected by ICE Actions

In Santa Barbara, California, the community came together for a meaningful cause at the Art for Justice auction, held to support families affected by ICE actions. The event, hosted by 805 Undocufund and Santa Barbara Resiste, featured live music by the Brasscals and a variety of art pieces and items donated for auction.

Community Effort and Support

Primitiva Hernandez, Executive Director of 805 Undocufund, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming community support. ‘I am very proud that it was organized by the community,’ she said, acknowledging the significant role played by the UCSB team in assembling the artwork for the event.

The funds raised aim to assist families who have been separated or otherwise impacted by ICE, providing them with the necessary support to remain in the community and begin healing from the system’s effects. Chelsea Lancaster of SB Resiste emphasized the importance of community presence and support for these families.

Innovative Fundraising

Attendees participated in the auction using QR codes, bidding on items that included donations from local surf shops. This innovative approach marked the first fundraiser of its kind in the area, showcasing the community’s commitment to supporting its members.

For those unable to attend, donations can still be made by texting ‘Art4Justice’ to 50155, and updates are available on social media via @SB.Art4Justice.
