A town hall meeting in San Antonio will focus on what kids need from adults to thrive in the upcoming school year. The KSAT Community Town Hall, set for August 19, will feature experts and community voices discussing how to create safe spaces for kids to speak up and how to teach children when to reach out to a trusted adult for help.
Whole-Child Approach
The town hall will explore a whole-child approach to student success, including physical health, mental well-being, and a sense of belonging. Dr. Amy Cobb, ambulatory pediatric medical director at University Health, and Maria Hoenigman, director of programs at NAMI Greater San Antonio, will be among the speakers.
The event aims to shift the focus from school supplies to the everyday stress that can build long before the first quiz. It will also discuss how adults can help kids feel connected and supported, and what signs to look out for if a child is overwhelmed.
