Salem’s Riverfront came alive this weekend as families, children, and local entrepreneurs gathered to celebrate Juneteenth, marking the occasion with a festive community event that brought people together in the heart of the city.
The Salem Reporter captured the vibrant scene in a photo gallery, highlighting the joyful mix of residents who turned out for the celebration. Families with kids, community members, and small business owners all took part, making it a true cross-section of Salem’s community spirit.
Adding to the celebration, the Salem-Keizer NAACP hosted the 2026 Juneteenth Festival, which the Statesman Journal also documented with a photo tour. The event offered Salem residents an opportunity to come together in recognition of Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States.
Together, the two events painted a picture of a community eager to celebrate history, support local entrepreneurs, and enjoy the warmth of summer alongside neighbors — right along the scenic Willamette Riverfront.
