In a grand celebration of American independence, New York Harbor is set to welcome 48 iconic tall ships from around the world as part of the Sail4th 250 event. This unprecedented gathering will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding on July Fourth.
International Parade of Sail
The tall ships, hailing from 20 countries including Argentina, Chile, and Italy, will sail through New York Harbor in the International Parade of Sail. The parade will begin under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, pass the Statue of Liberty, and continue up the Hudson River to the George Washington Bridge. This maritime spectacle will be accompanied by an anchored fleet of over 40 U.S. and allied naval vessels.
Aerial and Maritime Display
In addition to the maritime parade, more than 120 aircraft, led by the renowned Blue Angels, will participate in an international aerial review. Organizers have declared this event the largest maritime and aerial gathering in U.S. history, with an expected attendance of 6 million spectators along 15 miles of coastline.
Extensive Coverage and Participation
Extensive live coverage will be available on Telemundo and Peacock, with broadcasts starting at 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. ET. NBCU Local, a media partner of Sail4th 250, will provide live updates from various locations across the city, including Governor’s Island and The Intrepid, as well as on board several participating vessels.
Sail4th 250 president Chris O’Brien highlighted the years of dedication from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and partner agencies in making this event a reality. He emphasized the international goodwill exchange that this celebration represents, bringing together nations in a shared tribute to freedom and independence.
