Standoff Details
As officers arrived, the man brandished a semi-automatic rifle at them, leading them to back out of the home. He then barricaded himself inside. A trained SWAT negotiator was sent to the scene to communicate with the suspect, who repeatedly refused to come outside for several hours.
After about four hours, the negotiator successfully persuaded the man to come outside, and he peacefully surrendered to officers. The suspect, identified as Delbert Hornsby, suffered injuries during the standoff and was flown to a nearby hospital.
Hornsby’s domestic partner was not inside the home during the standoff and had escaped before officers arrived. No officer injuries were reported.
