Ryan O’Hearn, a member of the Santa Barbara Foresters Hall of Fame, made history by setting the Pittsburgh Pirates’ single-game franchise record with 10 runs batted in (RBIs). O’Hearn achieved this feat by hitting three home runs, including a grand slam in the first inning, a 3-run homer in the third inning, and another 3-run blast in the sixth inning.
Pirates’ Record Broken
The Pirates, who have been around since 1882, had never seen a player reach double-digit RBIs in one game until O’Hearn’s impressive performance. O’Hearn’s achievement is a testament to his skill and dedication to the sport. In 2012, he helped the Foresters win the National Baseball Congress World Series, and in the following season, he led Santa Barbara in RBIs.
O’Hearn’s batting helmet is now headed to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, to commemorate his record-breaking achievement.
