Russia has launched a campaign against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, targeting over 200 gas stations in June and July. The attacks have concentrated on gas stations close to the front lines and have also hit targets near the capital Kyiv.

The attacks have caused panic and disruption to daily life, with many gas stations serving as key points of refuge for evacuees, soldiers, and haulage drivers. Yaroslav Starovoitenko, president of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Association, said the Russian attacks were aimed at “intimidating” ordinary civilians.
Regina Kharchenko, acting mayor of Zaporizhzhia, said the city had been hit with 54 strikes targeting gas stations in a 24-day period, killing four and injuring 29. “This is deliberate terrorism targeting civilian infrastructure and civilians,” she said.
