Rural Kentucky Campground to Host Inaugural EDM Festival Amid Community Rebuilding

Rockcastle Riverside, a woman-owned campground in Livingston, Kentucky, is set to host the region’s first-ever electronic dance music (EDM) festival, Riverside Sessions, on July 10 and 11, with a pre-party on July 9. This event comes just over a year after devastating tornadoes struck nearby London, Kentucky, highlighting the community’s resilience and spirit of togetherness.

Community and Music Unite

Izabella Falk, the owner and manager of Rockcastle Riverside, took over the campground in January and has been the driving force behind the festival’s creation. Falk expressed her excitement and the hard work involved in organizing the event. “It’s a lot of responsibility but I’m so happy to continue to build this community and a place where people can come together and play music and get away from the hustle and bustle,” she said.

The festival will feature dozens of EDM artists from both the local area and across the country, offering a diverse lineup that promises to attract music enthusiasts from various backgrounds. In addition to showcasing musical talent, the festival aims to deepen appreciation for the natural beauty of the region.

Partnerships and Purpose

Riverside Sessions is partnering with Kentucky Heartwood, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Daniel Boone National Forest. Falk hopes that the event will not only entertain but also inspire attendees to cherish and protect natural spaces. “We’re also hoping with this event to deepen the appreciation and the love for our national forests and for the outdoors and all natural spaces,” Falk stated.

The festival arrives at a poignant time for the community. Last year, Rockcastle Riverside was hosting a music festival when tornadoes caused significant destruction in the area. While the campground itself escaped major damage, the experience left a lasting impact on the community. Falk hopes that Riverside Sessions will serve as a place for healing and connection, emphasizing the unifying power of music. “Music is one of the most healing things there is. I think I’ve seen it bring people together time and time again,” she noted.
