The Kansas City Royals reinstated star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Witt, 26, has been sidelined since experiencing back spasms during a July 20 win against the San Francisco Giants.
Witt’s Performance
Named to his third straight American League All-Star team this year, Witt is batting .279 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs. He has 103 hits and 51 runs and leads the American League with 30 stolen bases in 94 games.
The Royals also recalled right-hander Jose Cuas from Triple-A Omaha and designated former All-Star left-hander Matt Strahm and shortstop Andrew Velazquez for assignment. Cuas, 32, has no decisions and a 2.84 ERA in five relief appearances this season with Kansas City.
