Royal Rift Deepens Over Rumored Princess Diana Documentary

London – A rumored documentary about the late Princess Diana is stirring fresh tension between Prince William and Prince Harry, according to royal commentators. The project, reportedly being developed by Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, is said to be timed for the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death next year.

Family concerns over the film

Kinsey Schofield, host of the YouTube show Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, warned that using Diana’s story for publicity could “infuriate” William. She noted that William knew Diana personally, whereas Meghan never met her, and suggested that a documentary framing Diana’s experiences to support the Sussexes’ narrative would be seen as a betrayal.

Schofield also claimed that a planned Diana‑Award fundraising dinner was cancelled after William learned Meghan intended to attend and had a list of “superficial asks” for her presence, further fueling the perception of a publicity push.

Past collaboration and current opposition

Christopher Andersen, author of Kate!, recalled that William and Harry previously worked together on a 2017 three‑part documentary titled “Diana, The Unheard Truth,” which drew on never‑before‑released tapes. Andersen said the brothers are no longer speaking, and William views any new project as a posthumous invasion of their mother’s privacy.

According to Andersen, the unreleased tapes could contain emotionally charged material that might embarrass the royal family, including Diana’s struggles with bulimia and her fraught relationship with Prince Charles and Camilla.

Royal household’s reaction

British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard said the palace is wary of Harry and Meghan’s intentions, describing a “serious mistrust” surrounding the couple. She suggested the Sussexes’ business ventures in California have faltered, and that their return to the UK appears motivated by ambitions beyond a low‑key reintegration.

Chard added that insiders report Harry is consulting Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, and other close friends of the late princess for the film, which could prove lucrative for Netflix and the Sussexes.

Potential impact on the family

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News that the rumors are unsettling William, who remains devoted to his mother’s humanitarian legacy. Fordwich warned that if the documentary includes private anecdotes, it could become “extremely explosive” and further strain the brothers’ relationship.

While no official confirmation of the project exists, the speculation underscores the ongoing rift within the royal family as they navigate Diana’s enduring legacy.
