Roxy’s Pub Avoids Auction with Last-Minute Settlement in West Palm Beach

In a development closely watched by the West Palm Beach community, Roxy’s Pub has managed to avert a sheriff’s auction of its properties on Clematis Street through a confidential settlement. The auction was initially set following a judgment won by a couple related to a 2021 bar fight and claims of inadequate security.

The settlement, confirmed by attorneys involved, has temporarily halted the auction of the two properties housing the popular local bar. The couple had secured a judgment of approximately $1.1 million, and their collection efforts had targeted the properties. However, the settlement has paused these efforts for the time being.

Ongoing Legal Challenges

Despite this temporary reprieve, Roxy’s Pub is not yet free from legal troubles. A separate foreclosure lawsuit filed in May by a lender is still active. This lawsuit claims that more than $5 million is owed on a construction loan related to the remodeling and expansion of the pub, which included a rooftop pool and other enhancements. The redevelopment project, which began in 2022, reportedly cost around $17 million and caused significant disruptions on Clematis Street, affecting nearby businesses.

The foreclosure case involves multiple creditors and lienholders, including the City of West Palm Beach, all claiming interests in the property. Additionally, the couple from the original bar fight case has filed another lawsuit seeking the bar’s liquor license, asserting they are owed over $700,000. It remains uncertain whether this lawsuit will proceed following the recent settlement.

While the sheriff’s auction has been called off for now, the future of Roxy’s Pub remains uncertain as legal battles over substantial financial claims continue.
