Round Rock ISD students have shown significant improvement in their State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exam scores, according to results released by the Texas Education Agency on June 10. The district saw growth in four of the five subjects tested.

The Texas Education Agency uses a four-tiered grading system to score student performance: Did Not Meet Grade Level, Approaches Grade Level, Meets Grade Level, and Masters Grade Level. In Round Rock ISD, students made notable gains in Algebra I, Biology, English I, and English II, with passing rates of 88%, 97%, 82%, and 82%, respectively. U.S. History saw a slight decrease of one percentage point, with 95% of students passing.
Natalie Nichols, RRISD’s chief of schools and innovation, emphasized the district’s focus on student growth, stating, ‘Our mentality is we want every student to grow… Every student deserves to grow. That’s the promise we make to our community.’
