RootedHomes is set to celebrate the completion of Rooted at 19th, a new community of 23 permanently affordable homes in Redmond, Oregon. The public ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, June 12, 2026, marking a significant milestone in expanding affordable homeownership for the local workforce.
Community Land Trust Model
The Rooted at 19th development employs the Community Land Trust model, ensuring that these homes remain affordable for generations. Built to net-zero energy standards, the homes are designed to reduce long-term utility costs and promote healthier living environments for residents. The community features a mix of two- and three-bedroom duplexes, along with a preserved four-bedroom farmhouse.
RootedHomes’ mission is to provide environmentally sustainable and permanently affordable homeownership opportunities for individuals who contribute to Central Oregon’s economy and community. Executive Director Eliza Wilson emphasized the collaborative effort behind the project, stating, “Rooted at 19th is a great example of what can happen when partners come together around a shared commitment—creating housing that remains affordable for generations.”
Partnerships and Future Plans
The project was developed in partnership with several organizations, including Solaire Homebuilders, Oregon Housing and Community Services, Energy Trust of Oregon, Business Oregon, and the City of Redmond. Geoff and MaryLea Harris, owners of Solaire Homebuilders, expressed their satisfaction with the project, highlighting the rewards of building sustainable, net-zero energy homes that allow people to live where they work.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 345 NW 19th St., Redmond, OR 97756. The event is free and open to the public, featuring remarks, light refreshments, and site tours.
RootedHomes, formerly known as Kôr Community Land Trust, continues to focus on creating affordable, energy-efficient homeownership options for the region’s workforce. With communities already developed in Bend and Redmond, and a home in Sisters, RootedHomes plans further expansion, with a project in Prineville scheduled for 2027.
