Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Ohio marked a major milestone by serving its 1 millionth meal through the Taste of Hope program. The program provides free meals to families caring for sick children at nearby Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and those staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
Supporting Families in Need
Volunteers gathered in the kitchen to prepare meals for families facing some of their most challenging moments. Parent Alayna Paige shared her experience with the program, saying, “My son has cerebral palsy and needed surgery to help his mobility. When he had the surgery, they introduced us to Ronald McDonald House as a place we could stay.” The program served as a comfort to Paige during her son’s eight-hour surgery.
Chef Greg Wyatt, who leads the program, credited volunteers and community partners for helping reach the milestone. “I’m overwhelmed and honored,” Wyatt said. “I can’t thank the community and all the groups and volunteers that come and help us. That’s how the program is so successful.” Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Ohio CEO Jenn Loeb added that the meals offer families a chance to step away from the stress of the hospital.
The Taste of Hope program serves an average of 225 people with each meal, including more than 170 families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. As the program continues to expand, they are seeking additional volunteers this summer.
