Ronald McDonald House Charities in Oklahoma City is opening a new 28-bedroom facility to support more families and is calling on the community for donations, event participation, and volunteer efforts.
Expanding to Serve More Families
The new location will allow the organization to expand its reach to families from Mercy Hospital, INTEGRIS Hospital, Bethany Hospital, and more. The organization serves families from across the state who are receiving care for their children, and its facilities are often at full capacity.
Families come to us when they are in the hardest times of their lives, so they are having to travel and make decisions about whether they make the drive home, stay at an expensive hotel, or, if we have openings, they can come and stay with us, said Jenna Mori, president of Ronald McDonald House Charities Oklahoma City.
The organization is hosting its annual Red Shoe Rendezvous fundraiser in a few weeks to help meet the increased costs of the expansion. For those looking for other ways to contribute, the organization encourages groups to volunteer by preparing meals for families staying at the house.
