A scheduled inspection of the Roebling Bridge connecting Cincinnati and Covington will cause temporary closures of the bridge next week. The inspection will take place Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21.
Bridge Closures
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the bridge will be fully closed to traffic on up to three occasions during the week. These closures will occur within the hours of 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m., though specific dates and times of the closures haven’t been determined yet.
Sidewalk closures could also be needed intermittently and may be put in place overnight, according to KYTC. Officials said at least one sidewalk will remain open at all times.
The inspection is routine and will involve a hands-on evaluation of the bridge’s key structural components, ensuring its safety. The inspection is scheduled to be completed by 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, weather permitting.
