The Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival (RMWFF) begins Friday, October 16, at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, marking the event’s 39th year. The festival, the oldest women‑focused film showcase in North America, brings together top talent from across the United States to celebrate storytelling by women.
Curated Selections and Opening Night
Executive Director Nicole Nicoletta said the festival received more than 400 submissions this year. After a thorough review, the board selected 42 films to screen over the three‑day weekend. Opening night will feature the short vampire film Are We Still Married? and the documentary Reggae Girlz, which follows the Jamaican women’s national team as they vie for a World Cup qualifying spot.
Tickets, Schedule and Filmmaker Attendance
Tickets range from $25 to $200, depending on the day, time and number of films selected. Nicoletta noted that around 15 of the filmmakers will attend the festival, offering audiences the chance to meet the creators behind the work. A full schedule, including panel discussions and Q&A sessions, is available on the festival’s website.
Supporting Women in Film
The RMWFF continues its mission to amplify women’s voices in the film industry, providing a platform for emerging and established creators alike. By highlighting diverse stories—from a vampire romance to a sports documentary—the festival underscores the breadth of talent among women filmmakers and encourages local audiences to engage with fresh perspectives.
Community Impact
Held on the historic campus of Colorado College, the festival draws visitors to downtown Colorado Springs, supporting local businesses and reinforcing the city’s reputation as a cultural hub. Residents are invited to experience the screenings, meet the filmmakers, and participate in discussions that celebrate artistic achievement and community values.
