About the P.E.O. Sisterhood
The P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Sisterhood has been empowering women through education for over 155 years. Since its inception in 1869, the organization has supported more than 129,000 women in their educational pursuits, providing approximately $462 million in scholarships, grants, awards, and loans. The Sisterhood, which began as a bond of friendship among seven women in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, has grown to include more than 5,400 chapters across the United States and Canada.
