The Green Bay Rockers fell just short of another dramatic victory, losing to the Lake Shore Chinooks by a score of 15-14. The Rockers’ offense was on full display through the first seven innings, catapulting them to a large lead.
Early Lead
Stefan Di Corrado had a two RBI single in the first inning to give the Rockers a 2-1 lead. JT Starkus also provided a signature moment with a three-run bomb out to left field, giving the Rockers a 5-1 lead after the first inning.
The Chinooks started to creep their way back into the game, making it a one-run game before Eli Selga hit his second home run in two days to give the Rockers a 6-4 lead. The Chinooks would tie the game on a two-run shot off of Zach Tenn, but the Rockers scored eight unanswered runs to take a 14-6 lead in the eighth inning.
Late Comeback
However, the Chinooks scored six runs in the eighth inning, with three earned by Kyle Knoll and the other three charged to Joshua Wolkin. The Chinooks found themselves within striking distance in the ninth, and David Mysza hit an infield single that scored two runs, giving the Chinooks a 15-14 lead.
Cael Turner earned the save in the ninth as the Rockers went down in order, dropping the game despite their eight-run lead in the eighth inning. The Rockers will look to bounce back tomorrow in Mequon.
