RoboTechnik to raise $800 million with Hong Kong IPO on Sept. 21

Chinese automation equipment maker RoboTechnik Intelligent Technology announced that it will launch a secondary listing in Hong Kong on September 21, seeking to raise roughly $800 million. The move is designed to support the company’s overseas expansion and strengthen its position in equipment used for photovoltaic cell manufacturing and silicon photonics.

Why the Hong Kong listing matters

RoboTechnik, already listed on the Shenzhen exchange, makes critical equipment for photovoltaic cell production and for assembling and testing silicon photonics devices that power optical interconnects in data centres and artificial‑intelligence infrastructure. By adding a Hong Kong listing, the Suzhou‑based firm hopes to tap a broader pool of international investors and diversify its capital sources.

Use of proceeds

According to the company’s draft prospectus, the proceeds from the offering will be allocated to research and development, expanding factory capacity, building out global sales and service operations, pursuing possible acquisitions and covering working capital needs. The company sees the capital raise as a catalyst for continued growth in both domestic and overseas markets.

Financial performance and market reaction

RoboTechnik reported a net profit of 6.6 million yuan (about $985,500) for the first half of 2026, a turnaround from a net loss of 33.3 million yuan a year earlier. Revenue surged 144.8 % to 608.5 million yuan year‑over‑year. Shares of the company on the Shenzhen exchange have jumped 166 % year‑to‑date, giving it a market capitalisation of roughly $15.5 billion.

Offering timeline

The company plans to price the secondary offering on September 24 and expects the shares to debut on the Hong Kong exchange on September 29. The size and timetable of the deal could still change depending on market conditions, the sources said.

Sponsorship and next steps

Joint sponsors for the Hong Kong listing include Huatai International, Citigroup and Orient Securities (also known as DFZQ). Huatai and DFZQ did not respond to requests for comment, and Citi declined to comment.

RoboTechnik’s expansion strategy reflects a broader trend of Chinese high‑tech manufacturers seeking international capital to fund rapid growth in emerging sectors such as renewable energy and AI‑driven data infrastructure. The upcoming Hong Kong listing will be closely watched by investors looking to participate in the company’s next phase of development.
