Road Hog RV Park becomes family‑style game‑day hub for Razorback fans in Fayetteville

Fayetteville’s Road Hog RV Park is turning game day into a true community celebration for Arkansas Razorback supporters. With roughly 200 RV spots filling up well before Saturday’s kickoff, the lot has become a gathering place where fans meet, eat, and prepare to cheer on the Hogs together.

Family atmosphere drives the tradition

Bob Lucky, vice president of the Road Hogs, says the park’s atmosphere feels “very much like a fraternity.” Lucky, a Razorback fan since 2007, notes that many of the regulars have known each other for years, and the sense of camaraderie is reinforced by the fact that his 93‑year‑old mother has been attending games since 1972. “Whenever we pull in the park, we know at least half the people that we see,” Lucky explains.

More than just tailgating

The event is described by participants as a family reunion rather than a simple pre‑game tailgate. Fans bring home‑cooked dishes, set up tables for shared meals, and gather around multiple televisions to watch not only the Razorbacks but also other games on the schedule. Gary Piker, president of the Road Hogs, highlights the park’s signature tailgate area, nicknamed “Porkaritaville,” which includes three TVs and a small air‑conditioning unit to keep the crowd comfortable in the expected heat.

“We’ve got three TVs, so you can watch all the games of the day,” Piker says. “We’ll go to the game and come back and we’ll watch more ballgames and eat again.” The combination of food, fellowship, and football creates a lasting bond among the fans, a point both Lucky and Piker stress as the heart of the tradition.

Staying cool in the Arkansas heat

With hot temperatures forecast for Saturday, the park’s organizers have taken steps to keep everyone comfortable. In addition to the small air‑conditioner in Porkaritaville, fans are encouraged to bring plenty of water, wear hats, and set up shade canopies. The community spirit extends to looking out for one another, with longtime attendees offering tips on staying safe in the heat.

Impact on the local community

Beyond the immediate enjoyment of fans, the Road Hog RV Park tradition brings economic benefits to Fayetteville. Local vendors supply food and beverages, and the influx of visitors supports nearby businesses that see increased traffic on game days. The gathering also reinforces a sense of pride in the Razorback brand, showcasing how a shared love of football can strengthen neighborhood ties.

As the Razorbacks prepare to take the field, the Road Hog RV Park stands ready to welcome another wave of fans, continuing a tradition that blends sports enthusiasm with the values of family, fellowship, and community.
