The RNC’s offer comes as the Maine Democratic Party is dealing with the aftermath of a Senate primary candidate’s suspension of his campaign. The candidate, Graham Platner, had won the nomination but suspended his campaign due to concerns over the party’s handling of the election process.

The RNC’s letter also requests clarification on whether the DNC’s nominating convention will include basic safeguards such as voter identification, proof of residency, and independent observation.
