West Riviera Elementary School in Riviera Beach has completed a two-year renovation, introducing state-of-the-art facilities, enhanced security, and a new specialized learning format for pre-K through second-grade students.
Renovation Details
The renovations include 85,000 square feet, with 66 of it being new, plus technology upgrades in classrooms, new furniture, a courtyard, a teachers’ lounge, and art displayed throughout the school. The media center now features a soundproof studio for second-graders to use as a TV studio for morning news, and the music room is also soundproof.
Principal Alisha McKnight said the school expects about 600 students this year, including 120 pre-K students and approximately 460 kindergarten through second-grade students.
Specialized Learning Approach
Starting this school year, West Riviera Elementary will focus on specialized learning for pre-K through second grade, shifting from its previous Pre-K through fifth-grade format. School board member Edwin Fegurson advocated for the specialized learning approach to better prepare students for success.
