A unique tour is taking visitors off the Freedom Trail and into the darker corners of Boston’s history. Joe Leeman, a retired detective with the Boston Police Department, is leading Boston Detective True Crime Tours. The tour features some of Boston’s worst crimes, including the 1989 murder of Carol Stuart.

Leeman, a 36-year veteran police detective, shares his personal experiences and insights into the cases. He even plays actual 911 calls during the tour, giving visitors a firsthand look at the city’s crime history. The tour has become popular, especially among women, who are drawn to the learning experience and the opportunity to study the cases.
The tour is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays and also offers private events. Leeman has added a new tour for the America250 celebrations around Boston, showcasing the city’s rich history and crime stories.
