First responders with Albuquerque Fire Rescue, Albuquerque Police, Bernalillo County Sheriff, and New Mexico Search and Rescue coordinated a rescue of a person off the Embudo Trailhead in the Sandia Mountains on Wednesday.
According to Albuquerque Fire Rescue, first responders were dispatched to the Embudo Trailhead for reports of a hiker having a medical episode.
Officials say due to the condition of the patient and the rugged terrain, a helicopter from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was called to help take the hiker to safety. Personnel on the helicopter were able to get the hiker off the mountain and to a parking lot on the trailhead.
Rescue officials say the hiker was given a medical assessment and treated by ambulance personnel.
