The Cincinnati Reds community makeover is set to bring major changes to Winton Hills, with over 400 volunteers arriving to revitalize the area. The project will include the construction of a new, accessible playground at Winton Hills Academy, as well as the addition of murals, gardens, and a shaded tree walk throughout the neighborhood.
Improving the Community
The new playground will be built on the cafeteria patio, replacing the existing concrete and picnic tables. According to Ben Fulton, principal of Winton Hills Academy, the new playground will provide kids with a safe and accessible space to play and burn off energy. Inside the school, new murals will be added to the gym to create a more inviting space for students.
The makeover extends beyond the school walls, with plans to build gardens throughout the neighborhood, repave a basketball court, and add murals in the community. The Cincinnati Zoo is also involved, with plans to create a shaded tree walk in a large open field. The project is a collaboration between the Reds Community Fund, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and other local organizations.
