Redmond, Ore. – In a move to help local travelers breeze through security during the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas travel rush, Redmond Municipal Airport is hosting a TSA PreCheck enrollment event from October 20 to October 23. The four‑day event will be held in the terminal’s conference room across from baggage claim at 2252 Jesse Butler Circle.
How the event works
Partnering with IDEMIA, an authorized enrollment provider, the airport will accept applications for new members and renewals for the TSA PreCheck program. Applicants must bring identity and citizenship documents, submit fingerprints, have a photo taken, and pay the $76.75 application fee during their scheduled appointment. IDEMIA’s fee covers a five‑year membership once approved.
Airport officials advise travelers to complete the online application ahead of time to speed up the in‑person process. Once approved, members typically receive a Known Traveler Number within three to five days, which can be added to airline reservations to activate the expedited screening benefits.
Why PreCheck matters for families
Interim Airport Director Jason Neff highlighted the practical benefits for families heading into the holiday season. “With the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday travel season approaching, TSA PreCheck® is one of the easiest ways for passengers to speed up their trip—especially when connecting through larger airports with busy security lines,” Neff said. “We’ve extended appointment hours for this enrollment event from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and we encourage travelers to take advantage of this convenient opportunity before the next event in 2027.”
Members of the program enjoy dedicated screening lanes at more than 200 airports nationwide, with 99 % of members waiting ten minutes or less in line. PreCheck travelers do not need to remove shoes, belts, or light jackets, and they can leave laptops in their carry‑on bags, making the process smoother for parents traveling with children.
