Junior Caminero made history on Wednesday by hitting three home runs in a game, helping the Tampa Bay Rays secure a 13-2 win over the Kansas City Royals at Tropicana Field.
Caminero’s Historic Performance
Caminero, who turns 23 on July 5, became the seventh Rays player to achieve this feat. He hit home runs in the first, fifth, and eighth innings, with the final one being a 393-foot drive off Royals’ shortstop Tyler Tolbert, who was summoned to pitch in the eighth inning.
The Rays came close to achieving a combined no-hitter, with Casey Legumina and Ian Seymour holding the Royals hitless for most of the game. However, Carter Jensen’s two-run homer in the ninth inning foiled the bid.
