Raleigh’s Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration is set to proceed as planned, despite the ongoing drought and high temperatures. Fences are being erected at Dix Park in preparation for the event.
Precautions in Place
According to Raleigh’s Assistant Fire Chief Lowell Smith, the city is taking precautions to ensure public safety. “We really trust our partners at the State Fire Marshal’s Office. They monitor that with the National Weather Service. We are in contact with them about the current conditions. For the Dix fireworks, we will have resources on the scene for additional fire suppression needs that come up,” Smith said.
Smith also urged people who choose to use their own fireworks to take precautions, such as having a bucket of water or hose nearby. The State Fire Marshal’s Office emphasized that licensed crews follow strict safety requirements for professional fireworks shows.
Monitoring Weather Conditions
Officials will continue to monitor weather conditions through the Fourth of July holiday and make any necessary changes if conditions worsen. Many events across the Triangle will have water stations available, and officials are urging hydration to avoid heat emergencies.
