A man told detectives he had a pipe bomb in his vehicle while parked in a station parking lot on Wednesday at the Raleigh police northeast substation on Greens Dairy Road just after 10:30 a.m.
Police determined there was no threat to the public or surrounding businesses.
There was no information about an arrest.
