Parking rates in downtown Raleigh will increase starting August 1. The rates for street parking and select garages have remained steady since 2018, according to the city of Raleigh.
Rate Increases
Street parking will increase from the current hourly rate of $1.25-$1.50 to $1.50 in all locations. Non-event parking decks will increase from $2 per hour to $3 per hour, with daily maximums increasing from $14 to $21. Event parking decks will increase from $3 per hour to $4 per hour, with daily maximums increasing from $15 to $24.
The largest rate increase is at the Cabarrus Street deck, which was previously $1 an hour due to the convention center. The city says the increase will help support other decks in that area.
Monthly parking permits will also increase, from $125 to $135. The revenue from the rate increases will be used to offset costs such as security, maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
According to Kenneth Ritchie, Assistant Director of Raleigh Department of Transportation, the changes will help close the gap in the program and improve the overall experience for people visiting downtown Raleigh.
